Placements24 is seeking a Lead Bioinformatician to spearhead a distributed team tackling large-scale genomic data. You will design analytical strategies and build robust pipelines for processing diverse sequencing data, from WGS to RNA-seq, collaborating with biologists and geneticists to drive discoveries.

The role emphasizes asynchronous communication in a fully remote setup, with opportunities to publish and present findings as part of a global research effort.

Qualifications

• PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, CS, Genetics or related field.
• 7+ years hands-on bioinformatics experience, 2+ in leadership.
• Extensive experience with sequencing data (NGS).
• Proficiency in Python and R with Biopython/Bioconductor.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of bioinformaticians to design genomic data analysis pipelines.
• Oversee processing of large-scale sequencing data (WGS, WES, RNA-seq) with state-of-the-art tools.
• Develop novel computational methods to answer complex biological questions.
• Collaborate with researchers to define goals and requirements.
• Ensure quality, reproducibility, and efficiency of analyses.
• Stay current with bioinformatics and genomics advances and integrate them into workflows.
