Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly analytical Forensic Accountant for a fully remote, contract-based role with a leading forensic accounting firm. You will conduct investigations into fraud, quantify damages, and support litigation with expert testimony.

The ideal candidate has CA(SA) or equivalent and at least 7 years of forensic accounting experience, including data analysis and e-discovery. Strong communication and independence are essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified CA(SA) or equivalent with forensic qualifications (e.g., CFE, CFAP).
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in forensic accounting, fraud investigation, or litigation support.
• Experience conducting complex financial investigations and analyzing large datasets.
• Strong knowledge of accounting, auditing, and legal principles related to financial investigations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct forensic accounting investigations into fraud, asset misappropriation, and financial irregularities.
• Analyze financial data, audit trails, and electronic evidence to identify patterns and anomalies.
• Quantify economic damages in commercial litigation, insurance claims, and other disputes.
• Prepare detailed forensic accounting reports suitable for legal proceedings.
• Assist legal counsel in case strategy development and discovery processes.
• Provide expert witness testimony in court or arbitration proceedings.
• Conduct fraud risk assessments and recommend preventative controls.
• Perform due diligence investigations for mergers and acquisitions.
• Develop and present findings to clients, legal teams, and regulatory bodies.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards throughout investigations.
