Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior FMCG Category Manager to lead category strategy and drive profitable growth in the Upington region and wider Northern Cape markets. This remote-first role partners with sales, marketing and supply chain to optimize assortment, pricing, promotions and placement.

The ideal candidate brings 8+ years in category/brand management within FMCG, strong analytics, and excellent communication and stakeholder-influencing abilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or a related field; MBA is a plus.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in category management, brand management, or a related commercial role within the FMCG sector.
• Demonstrated success in developing and executing effective category strategies that drive sales and profitability.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and translate them into actionable insights.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive category strategies aligned with overall business objectives and market dynamics.
• Analyze sales data, market trends, and consumer behaviour to identify growth opportunities and potential threats within the assigned category.
• Optimize product assortment, pricing strategies, and promotional plans to drive sales volume and market share.
• Collaborate with the sales team to ensure effective execution of category plans at the retail level.
• Work closely with marketing to develop compelling brand and promotional campaigns.
• Manage relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and efficient execution.
• Monitor category performance against targets and provide regular reports with actionable insights to senior management.
• Identify and evaluate new product opportunities for inclusion within the category.
• Stay informed about competitor activities and evolving consumer preferences in the FMCG space.
• Lead strategic initiatives to enhance category profitability and customer loyalty across the Upington region.
