Placements24 is seeking an experienced Remote Fleet Manager to oversee vehicle operations for a national fleet from a remote location with a functional base in Bloemfontein. You will optimize utilization, ensure safety compliance, manage maintenance schedules, and lead a remote driver team.

You will leverage fleet management software and telematics to monitor performance, drive cost-efficiencies, and maintain regulatory compliance across regions.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet management or vehicle operations.
• Proven experience managing large vehicle fleets (trucks/vans).
• Strong knowledge of maintenance and preventative maintenance programs.
• Familiarity with fleet management software, GPS tracking, and telematics.
• Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop strategies to optimize fleet performance, including fuel efficiency and utilization.
• Schedule vehicle maintenance, repairs, and inspections to minimize downtime.
• Ensure compliance with transportation laws, safety regs, and environmental standards.
• Lead and mentor a team of remote drivers; provide guidance and feedback.
• Monitor driver behavior via telematics and promote safe driving practices.
• Control fleet operating costs (fuel, maintenance, insurance, licensing).
• Manage relationships with suppliers, maintenance providers, and vendors.
• Analyze fleet data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Implement and manage fleet management software and telematics systems.
• Develop and maintain operational policies for fleet management.
• Respond to vehicle-related incidents or emergencies.
