• Minimum 7 years of progressive financial management, 3+ in a Controller or leadership role.

About the Role Our client, a rapidly expanding international e-commerce business, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Financial Controller to lead their finance function. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within South Africa. The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's financial operations, including financial planning, budgeting, risk management, and reporting. You will play a critical role in driving financial strategy, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, and optimizing financial performance. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in financial leadership, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to manage a remote team effectively. This role requires a strategic thinker who can translate complex financial data into actionable business insights. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), treasury, and compliance.
• Develop and implement strategic financial plans and budgets to support business growth objectives.
• Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting under IFRS.
• Prepare comprehensive financial statements, management reports, and performance analyses for executive leadership.
• Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Lead and mentor a remote finance team, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners.
• Identify opportunities for financial process improvements and implement best practices using technology solutions.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and reporting requirements across relevant jurisdictions.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making and investment opportunities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• A professional qualification (e.g., CA(SA), ACCA, CMA) is mandatory.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive financial management experience, with at least 3 years in a Controller or similar leadership role.
• Extensive experience with IFRS and international accounting standards.
• Proven ability to manage remote teams and operations effectively.
• Strong expertise in financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and FP&A.
• Proficiency in modern ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP S/4HANA) and advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience in the e-commerce or technology sector is a significant advantage.
