Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Remote Exploration Geologist to join a globally distributed team. You will analyze geological and geophysical data, interpret seismic surveys, and develop play fairways to identify high-potential exploration prospects from a home office.

The role requires 7+ years in oil & gas, strong basin analysis and sedimentology, and the ability to work independently in a remote-first environment. Excellent communication and reporting skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Geology, Geophysics, or a related geoscience field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in oil and gas exploration geology, focusing on prospect generation and evaluation.
• Proficiency with geological software packages (Petrel, Kingdom Suite, GeoGraphix) and data analysis tools.
• Expertise in basin analysis, sequence stratigraphy, sedimentology, and structural geology.
• Experience with seismic interpretation and integrating multi-disciplinary datasets.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects remotely.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong presentation abilities.
• Proven ability to identify commercially viable exploration prospects.
• Reliable high-speed internet and dedicated home office setup.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret geological and geophysical data, including well logs and seismic attributes.
• Develop and refine geological models and play fairway maps for frontier and mature basins.
• Identify and rank exploration prospects based on technical merit and economic potential.
• Collaborate with exploration managers, geophysicists, and reservoir engineers via virtual platforms.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for exploration strategies.
• Stay updated on exploration technologies, methodologies, and industry trends.
• Contribute to the exploration portfolio and business development efforts.
• Maintain and manage geological databases and digital assets.
• Communicate complex geological concepts effectively in a remote setting.
