Placements24 is seeking a Junior Energy Trader intern to join a fast-growing energy trading firm remotely from anywhere in South Africa. You will learn under senior traders, analyze market data, and assist in executing trades while gaining fundamentals of risk management.

This internship offers hands-on exposure, training, and potential full-time opportunities based on performance and business needs.

Qualifications

• Degree in a quantitative field or final-year student aligned with Finance or Economics.
• Strong academic record with numerical aptitude and interest in energy markets.
• Proficiency in Excel; programming basics are advantageous.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to learn quickly.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior traders in monitoring energy market activity and price moves.
• Support data analysis of market data, news, and indicators for decisions.
• Learn and execute trades under supervision of experienced traders.
• Help develop trading strategies and models.
• Prepare daily trading reports and market summaries.
• Shadow seniors to understand real-time decision-making.
• Contribute to risk management and policy compliance.
• Maintain accurate trading records and reconciliations.
• Stay informed on energy industry trends, regulations, geopolitics.
• Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
