Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Remote Employment Lawyer to join its fully remote legal team, supporting operations across South Africa. The role advises on all aspects of employment law, ensuring compliance with BCEA, LRA, EEA, and related legislation, and provides pivotal counsel to HR and management nationwide.

You will draft and update contracts and policies, represent the company in CCMA proceedings, and lead training on employment-law best practices while managing complex employee

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney with at least 5 years of experience in South African employment law.
• In-depth knowledge of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Labour Relations Act, and Employment Equity Act.
• Experience representing employers in the CCMA and Labour Court.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and advisory skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage a caseload remotely.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on all employment law matters, including disciplinary actions, grievances, retrenchments, and performance management.
• Draft, review, and update employment contracts, policies, and procedures in compliance with current legislation.
• Represent the company in CCMA and other labor dispute resolution forums.
• Conduct legal training for HR personnel and managers on employment law best practices.
• Advise on and manage complex workplace investigations and employee relations issues.
• Stay current with changes in employment legislation and labor court jurisprudence.
