Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Remote Electrical Design Specialist in South Africa to design and optimize electrical components for next-generation products. This role leverages extensive circuit design expertise in a fully remote setting with a globally distributed engineering team.

You will develop schematics and PCBs, conduct simulations, specify components, and document BOMs while collaborating with firmware, software, and mechanical engineers to push innovative designs forward.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• At least 6 years of progressive electrical design experience in complex systems.
• Proficient in Cadence Allegro or Altium Designer.
• Strong knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, power electronics, and embedded systems.
• Experience with signal integrity and power integrity analysis.
• Excellent remote collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed electrical schematics, PCB layouts, and system designs for new products and features.
• Perform thorough electrical simulations, analyses, and component testing to validate design integrity and performance.
• Specify and source electrical components, ensuring compatibility, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Create and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including BOMs, test plans, and manufacturing guidelines.
• Collaborate closely with firmware, software, and mechanical engineers in a remote environment to ensure integrated product development.
• Stay updated on emerging electrical technologies and propose innovative design solutions to enhance product capabilities.
