Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to develop electrical design drawings, specifications, and calculations for residential, commercial, and mixed-use buildings on a remote basis from Stellenbosch.

You will ensure compliance with SANS 10142, coordinate with other disciplines, and support construction phase remotely, delivering high-quality design packages and detailed BOQs while collaborating with our project teams nationwide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 4+ years in electrical design for building projects.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Revit MEP for design packages.
• Knowledge of SA electrical codes (SANS 10142).
• Experience in energy efficiency studies is advantageous.
• Excellent communication and ability to manage projects remotely.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical design drawings and specifications for residential, commercial, and mixed-use buildings.
• Perform load calculations, lighting designs, power distribution layouts, and single-line diagrams.
• Ensure designs comply with the National Building Regulations, SANS codes, and other relevant standards.
• Coordinate electrical designs with other disciplines, including architectural, structural, and mechanical.
• Specify electrical equipment and materials, preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQ).
• Provide technical support during the construction phase, responding to RFIs and reviewing shop drawings remotely.
