Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Drilling Fluids Engineer for a fully remote position, supporting operations across locations including near East London. You will design, monitor, and optimize drilling fluid systems and provide on-site or remote technical support to ensure safe, efficient well construction.

The ideal candidate has a degree in Chemical or Petroleum Engineering and at least 4 years of experience in drilling fluids, with knowledge of water-, oil-, and synthetic-based

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related scientific field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Drilling Fluids Engineer or Mud Engineer.
• Strong knowledge of drilling fluid chemistry, rheology, hydraulics, and solids control.
• Experience with various drilling fluid systems (water-based, oil-based, synthetic-based).
• Familiarity with drilling operations and their interaction with fluid systems.
• Excellent remote communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, recommend, and manage drilling fluid systems tailored to specific well objectives and geological conditions.
• Monitor fluid performance on drilling rigs, analyze data, and provide on-site or remote technical support.
• Troubleshoot drilling fluid related issues such as lost circulation, formation damage, and wellbore instability.
• Ensure fluid properties meet technical specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Manage inventory and logistics for drilling fluid materials and equipment.
• Prepare technical reports and recommendations for fluid programs and operational improvements.
• Stay updated on new technologies and best practices in drilling fluid engineering.
