Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a vigilant Dispatch Officer to manage remote dispatch operations from home in Durban. You will coordinate vehicle and personnel movements, adjust schedules in real time, and serve as the main contact for drivers, field staff, and managers.

The role requires strong communication, sharp attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced logistics environment, delivering efficient, reliable dispatch across the network.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in dispatching, logistics coordination, or a similar operational role.
• Excellent knowledge of dispatch software and GPS tracking systems.
• Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and make quick decisions under pressure.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for interaction with drivers and management.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and assign tasks to drivers and field personnel based on real-time operational needs and schedules.
• Monitor the progress of dispatched units, ensuring timely arrivals and departures.
• Communicate effectively with drivers via radio or digital systems to provide instructions, updates, and address any issues.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and operational disruptions, implementing contingency plans as needed.
• Maintain accurate dispatch logs, records of vehicle movements, and driver activities.
• Collaborate with operational supervisors to optimize dispatch routes and resource allocation for maximum efficiency.
