Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Cybersecurity Specialist to join a remote-first team. You will implement and manage security controls, perform risk assessments, and respond to incidents across cloud and on-prem environments.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in cybersecurity, experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, EDR, and SIEM, plus cloud security knowledge. Strong communication and independent work in a global, remote setting are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• 3–5 years of experience in cybersecurity roles.
• Experience with security technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, EDR, and SIEM.
• Strong understanding of network security, application security, and data protection principles.
• Experience with cloud security concepts (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Excellent understanding of Windows and Linux OS and common vulnerabilities.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting; strong communication.
• Relevant cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CySA+, GSEC) are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Implement, manage, and monitor security controls across cloud and on-prem environments.
• Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify threats.
• Develop and maintain security policies for a remote workforce.
• Monitor security alerts and respond to incidents and breaches.
• Deliver cybersecurity awareness training for employees.
• Stay updated on threats and recommend countermeasures.
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure security in design and deployment.
• Maintain security documentation and regulatory compliance.
• Configure security tools such as firewalls, VPNs, EDR, and SIEM.
• Participate in security architecture reviews to improve posture.
