Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Computational Biologist specializing in Genomics to join a remote-first research team based in Nelspruit. The role focuses on analyzing large genomic datasets to accelerate discovery and therapeutic strategies, using advanced computational and statistical methods in a virtual environment.

You will develop pipelines for sequencing data, apply ML and statistics to genomic data, and collaborate with experimental biologists to interpret results.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Genetics, Statistics, or a related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in analyzing large-scale genomic datasets.
• Strong programming skills in Python, R, or Perl and experience with bioinformatics libraries.
• Solid understanding of statistical principles and machine learning techniques applied to biological data.
• Excellent problem-solving and remote-team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement pipelines for analyzing high-throughput sequencing data (e.g., whole-genome, exome, RNA-Seq).
• Perform statistical analysis and interpretation of genomic variation, gene expression, and epigenetic data.
• Collaborate with experimental biologists to design genomic studies and interpret results.
• Develop novel algorithms and computational tools to address specific research questions.
• Visualize and communicate complex genomic findings to diverse scientific audiences.
