Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Community Sports Program Coordinator to design, implement and manage inclusive sports programs for Soweto, collaborating with schools, NGOs and community leaders. This fully remote role focuses on engaging diverse age groups, promoting physical activity, and building sustainable initiatives.

You will oversee budgets, recruit and manage volunteers, coordinate events, collect impact data, and report outcomes while ensuring safety and accessibility for all participants.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in coordinating community programs, sports development, or event management, preferably with exposure to the Soweto community.
• Strong understanding of sports and recreational activities suitable for diverse age groups.
• Excellent organizational, planning, and logistical skills.
• Effective communication, interpersonal, and networking abilities.
• Experience in volunteer management and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a remote setting.
• Proficiency in basic budget management and reporting.
• A genuine passion for sports and community empowerment.
• Own reliable internet connection and suitable remote workspace.
• Relevant qualification in Sports Management, Community Development, or a related field is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive community sports program plans aligned with organizational goals.
• Identify community needs and opportunities for sports development initiatives.
• Organize, promote, and coordinate sports leagues, clinics, workshops, and events.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, participants, and volunteers.
• Manage program budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and tracking expenditures.
• Recruit, train, and manage volunteers and program facilitators.
• Monitor program activities, collect data, and prepare regular reports on participation and outcomes.
• Ensure all programs adhere to safety guidelines and best practices.
• Promote program registration and engagement through various communication channels.
• Advocate for the importance of sports and physical activity within the community.
