About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Remote Community Outreach Specialist to join their fully remote team, serving the community of Vereeniging and surrounding areas. This role is pivotal in connecting individuals and families with vital social services, health resources, and community programs, all managed from a remote-first environment. The ideal candidate will excel at building relationships virtually, leveraging digital tools for communication and outreach, and coordinating support networks from a distance. You will be instrumental in ensuring equitable access to resources for residents, irrespective of their location or circumstances. This is a unique opportunity to shape community engagement strategies in a flexible, remote-first setting. We are looking for a proactive individual with exceptional communication skills and a deep understanding of community needs and digital engagement tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive remote community outreach strategies targeting residents in and around Vereeniging .
• Utilize digital platforms (social media, email, video conferencing) to engage with community members, organizations, and stakeholders.
• Conduct virtual needs assessments and provide information and referrals to relevant social services, health programs, and educational opportunities.
• Build and maintain strong online relationships with community leaders, local NGOs, and support groups.
• Organize and facilitate virtual workshops, webinars, and online support groups.
• Create and disseminate engaging digital content (infographics, videos, articles) about available resources and services.
• Monitor online community forums and social media to identify emerging needs and trends.
• Coordinate with in-person field staff or volunteers where necessary for specific outreach activities.
• Maintain accurate digital records of outreach activities, client interactions, and service outcomes.
• Advocate for community needs within the organization and with external partners.
• Analyze outreach data to report on effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
• Stay abreast of best practices in remote engagement and digital community building.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Community Development, Communications, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in community outreach, social work, or a related field, with demonstrated success in remote or digital engagement.
• Proven ability to build rapport and connect with individuals and communities through virtual means.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong presentation abilities via video conferencing.
• Proficiency in using social media platforms, CRM systems, and other digital outreach tools.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects remotely.
• Self-motivated, disciplined, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience in content creation for digital platforms is a plus.
• Understanding of the social landscape and needs within the Gauteng region, particularly Vereeniging , is advantageous.
• Ability to adapt to evolving digital technologies and communication methods.
