Job summary

Placements24 seeks a passionate Community Mobilizer to empower Soweto communities through remote outreach and engagement. You will connect with residents, inform about services, and foster participation across Gauteng, building trust with community leaders and organisations.

The role focuses on developing strategies, coordinating virtual and in-person activities, and ensuring programs reach those in need while promoting empowerment and development.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in community development, outreach, or social work, preferably within a non-profit setting.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.
• Demonstrated ability to build rapport and trust with diverse community groups.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage outreach activities effectively.
• Experience working remotely and utilizing digital communication tools.
• A deep understanding of the social dynamics and needs of communities like Soweto.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies to effectively engage and mobilize community members.
• Conduct outreach activities to inform residents about the organization's services and programs.
• Facilitate community meetings, workshops, and events (virtual and in-person as needed) to gather input and promote participation.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, local organizations, and residents.
• Identify community needs and challenges, and work collaboratively to develop solutions.
• Advocate for community interests and ensure their voices are heard in program planning and implementation.
