Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Community Mobilization Officer to support remote initiatives across Mahikeng and surrounding communities. You will engage residents, facilitate participatory planning, and build capacity within local groups, all from a fully remote setup.

The role emphasizes developing strategies, empowering community ownership, and using digital tools to collaborate with diverse stakeholders for sustainable development.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree or diploma in Community Development, Social Sciences, Public Administration, or a related field.
• Proven experience in community mobilization, participatory development, or related grassroots work.
• Excellent facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills for remote engagement.
• Strong understanding of community dynamics and development principles.
• Proficiency in using digital collaboration tools for remote work and communication.
• Ability to work independently and manage projects effectively from a distance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive community mobilization strategies aligned with organizational goals.
• Facilitate community meetings, workshops, and participatory planning sessions to identify needs and priorities.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, local organizations, and residents.
• Empower communities to take ownership of local development initiatives and resource mobilization.
• Provide training and capacity building to community groups on various development aspects.
• Monitor and report on community engagement activities, progress, and challenges, ensuring effective remote collaboration.
