Job summary

Placements24 in South Africa seeks a Community Mobilization Officer who is active and community-focused, working fully remotely to engage Gauteng communities in our clients programs and initiatives. You will design strategies to foster ownership, facilitate dialogue, and build local capacity for sustainable development.

The role requires strong facilitation, excellent communication, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting, with a deep understanding of participatory approaches

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.
• Proven experience in community development, social work, or community mobilization.
• Excellent facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage remote communication effectively.
• Understanding of participatory approaches and community-led development.
• Familiarity with the social landscape of Gauteng and its communities is a significant asset.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement effective community mobilization strategies and action plans.
• Facilitate community meetings, workshops, and focus group discussions to gather input and build consensus.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, local organizations, and influencers.
• Identify community needs and opportunities for program involvement and resource mobilization.
• Train and support community facilitators and local champions.
• Monitor and report on the progress and impact of community mobilization activities.
