Placements24 is seeking an experienced Remote Clinical Data Manager to oversee collection, management, and quality control of clinical trial data from anywhere in South Africa.

You will ensure data integrity, regulatory compliance, and timely delivery across the trial lifecycle, working with sites, investigators, and vendors in a remote setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in life science, computer science, or related field.
• Master's degree is a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of clinical data management experience in pharma/biotech.
• Proficiency with EDC systems (Medidata Rave, Oracle InForm, Veeva).
• Strong knowledge of GCP, ICH, and CDISC data standards.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work remotely.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement data management plans (DMPs) for global trials.
• Design, build, and validate clinical databases (EDC systems).
• Manage data entry, query generation, and data reconciliation.
• Perform data validation checks and resolve discrepancies with sites.
• Ensure compliance with GCP, ICH, and other regulatory requirements.
• Train site staff and internal teams on data management procedures and EDC use.
• Collaborate with biostatisticians, programmers, and CRAs to assure data quality.
• Oversee data archiving and database lock activities per study timelines.
• Contribute to development of DMP SOPs and guidelines.
• Manage relationships with external data management vendors.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a life science, computer science, or related field.
• A Master's degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical data management within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
• Proficiency with Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems (e.g., Medidata Rave, Oracle InForm, Veeva EDC).
• Strong understanding of clinical trial processes, regulatory guidelines (GCP, ICH), and data standards (CDISC).
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a remote setting.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse global teams.
• Experience with data validation, query management, and database lock procedures.
• Familiarity with SAS or other statistical software is advantageous.
