Job summary

WhatJobs Direct is seeking a proactive Civil Engineer with expertise in Urban Planning and Design to join our fully remote team. You will lead conceptual and detailed design for urban infrastructure, land development, and mixed-use projects, collaborating with planners, architects and engineers virtually.

The role requires at least 5 years of civil engineering design experience, a relevant degree, and professional registration with ECSA; proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D and GIS; and a portfolio

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Urban Planning (Master's preferred)
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr. Eng. or Candidate Engineer) preferred
• Minimum 5 years of civil engineering design with urban planning/land development focus
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D and GIS software
• Strong analytical, communication, and remote collaboration skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote setting
• Portfolio of urban design and planning projects is a plus

Responsibilities

• Contribute to conceptualization and detailed design of urban infrastructure (roads, public spaces, utilities)
• Conduct site analysis, feasibility studies, and land use planning assessments
• Develop master plans and designs for residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments
• Ensure designs comply with urban planning principles, zoning regulations, and standards
• Collaborate with urban planners, architects, environmental consultants, and stakeholders virtually
• Prepare design reports, presentations, and technical documentation for clients and regulators
• Assess environmental impact and propose mitigation strategies
• Support sustainable design including green infrastructure and low-impact development
• Assist in project management tasks including cost estimation and scheduling in remote setting
