Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a visionary Head of Information Security (CISO) to lead our global cybersecurity program in a remote-first environment. You will define and execute the overall information security strategy, safeguard digital assets, and ensure compliance with international data protection laws.

You will direct risk management, incident response, vendor governance, and security awareness across distributed teams, partnering with executives and the board to embed a strong security culture

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field.
• 15+ years in information security with 7+ years in senior leadership.
• Deep knowledge of risk management, incident response, and compliance.
• Experience with remote/global security teams is essential.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive information security strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Oversee security operations including risk management, threat intel, incident response, and vulnerability management.
• Ensure compliance with GDPR, POPIA or applicable data protection laws.
• Build and lead a distributed information security team.
• Engage with executive leadership and the board on security matters.
• Promote a proactive security culture through education and awareness.
• Manage the information security budget and vendor relationships.
• Lead the organization’s response to major security incidents.
• Stay ahead of evolving threats, technologies, and best practices.
• Represent the organization on cybersecurity externally.
