Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Remote Aircraft Performance Engineer to join a globally recognized aerospace consultancy. Work from anywhere in South Africa, including Upington, focusing on aircraft performance optimization through advanced modeling and consultancy for airline clients.

The role requires a Master's or PhD in aerospace-related fields, at least 6 years of experience, and strong skills in aerodynamics, propulsion, and MATLAB/Simulink.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in aircraft performance engineering or related discipline.
• Proven expertise in aerodynamics, propulsion, flight dynamics, and thermodynamics.
• Strong experience with performance modeling software and tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, Python, specialized aerospace software).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and computational skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze aircraft performance data to identify improvement areas.
• Develop and validate performance models using aerodynamic and thermodynamic principles.
• Optimize flight plans and procedures for fuel efficiency and emissions reduction.
• Conduct feasibility studies and simulations for performance enhancements and new technologies.
• Provide technical consultancy to airline clients and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with a global team via virtual platforms.
• Keep up-to-date with regulations and industry best practices.
• Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and documentation for clients and internal teams.
• Contribute to the development of proprietary performance analysis tools.
