Placements24 is seeking an experienced Aircraft Performance Engineer in Upington, Northern Cape. You will analyze flight data to optimize performance, fuel efficiency, and emissions, while collaborating with flight operations and engineering teams.

The role requires 5+ years in aircraft performance, strong data analytics skills (Python, R, MATLAB), and knowledge of aerodynamics and flight dynamics. You will contribute to sustainability initiatives and ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in aircraft performance engineering or related role.
• Strong analytical and statistical skills with experience in data mining and analysis tools (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB).
• Knowledge of aerodynamics, aircraft systems, and flight dynamics.
• Familiarity with aviation regulations related to aircraft performance and emissions.
• Experience interpreting flight data recorder (FDR) information.
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze flight data recorders (FDR) and other performance-related data to assess aircraft performance, fuel burn, and engine efficiency.
• Develop and implement strategies to optimize flight paths, altitudes, and speeds to maximize fuel efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
• Conduct performance testing and validation for new aircraft types or modifications.
• Prepare detailed reports and presentations on aircraft performance trends, identifying areas for improvement and recommending actionable solutions.
• Collaborate with flight operations to provide real-time performance monitoring and support.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant aviation regulations pertaining to aircraft performance and emissions.
• Develop and maintain performance databases and analytical tools.
• Assist in the investigation of performance-related anomalies or incidents.
• Stay abreast of advancements in aircraft technology, aerodynamics, and performance analysis techniques.
• Contribute to the company's sustainability initiatives through performance optimization efforts.
