Job summary

The President Hotel is seeking a skilled Refrigeration Technician to join the hotel’s engineering and maintenance team. You will install, maintain and repair refrigeration and cooling systems throughout the hotel to ensure efficient, safe operation.

• Ability to work independently and efficiently under deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and maintain refrigeration and cooling equipment, including chillers, cold rooms, and ice machines.
• Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections of refrigeration systems.
• Diagnose and repair faults in refrigeration systems and associated components.
• Test and monitor equipment performance to ensure operational efficiency.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and system performance.
• Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations regarding refrigerants and chemicals.
• Collaborate with the engineering and maintenance team for emergency breakdowns, ensuring minimal disruption to hotel services.

The successful candidate will install, maintain, and repair refrigeration and cooling systems throughout the hotel, ensuring all equipment operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulations.

Critical Criteria (Requirements)

• Trade qualification or certification in Refrigeration, HVAC, or Mechanical Engineering
• Proven experience in commercial or industrial refrigeration systems
• Knowledge of refrigerants, compressors, and cooling technology
• Minimum 2–4 years’ experience as a Refrigeration Technician, preferably in hotels, industrial, or commercial environments
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship
• Ability to work independently and efficiently under deadlines
• Team player with strong communication skills
• Must hold a valid South African ID
