Placements24 is seeking a diligent Quality Control Technician for their Upington operation in the Northern Cape. You will perform QC checks on raw materials, in-process products and finished goods, conduct laboratory tests, and ensure compliance with food safety standards to maintain product integrity.

The role requires a National Diploma in a related field, at least 2 years of experience in food QC, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Diploma or higher in food technology, biotechnology, chemistry or a related scientific field.
• Minimum of 2 years in quality control/assurance in food manufacturing.
• Knowledge of HACCP, GMP and food safety standards.
• Experience with laboratory testing procedures and equipment.
• Strong attention to detail with accurate reporting and documentation.

Responsabilités

About the Role

Our client, a leading food production company renowned for its commitment to quality and innovation, is seeking a diligent Quality Control Technician to join their operations in Upington, Northern Cape. This role is vital in ensuring that all products manufactured meet the company's high standards for safety, quality, and consistency. You will be responsible for performing various tests and inspections throughout the production process, documenting results, and identifying any deviations from quality specifications. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of food safety principles, and a commitment to maintaining product integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform quality control checks on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
• Conduct laboratory tests and analyses according to established procedures.
• Ensure compliance with food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, ISO 22000) and regulatory requirements.
• Document all quality control findings, results, and observations accurately.
• Identify and report any product quality issues or non-conformities to the Quality Manager.
• Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy.
• Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to quality control parameters.
• Participate in product development trials and provide quality feedback.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to hygiene and safety protocols.
• Assist in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• National Diploma in Food Technology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in quality control or quality assurance within the food manufacturing industry.
• Knowledge of food safety principles and relevant quality standards (HACCP, GMP).
• Experience with laboratory testing procedures and equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good understanding of basic microbiology and chemistry.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
• Effective communication and reporting skills.
