Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Quality Assurance Technician to join our food production team in Gauteng. The role focuses on in-process and final product inspections, laboratory testing, and strict adherence to HACCP and ISO standards.

The successful candidate will document findings, support audits, and help maintain high quality and safety across all products. A relevant food science qualification and strong data skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in QA or quality control in food manufacturing.
• Solid understanding of HACCP, GMP and quality management systems.
• Experience with laboratory testing procedures and equipment calibration.
• Strong data analysis and reporting skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-process and final product inspections to verify specifications and quality standards.
• Perform laboratory tests on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using approved methodologies.
• Analyze test results, identify deviations, and report non-conformances to the Quality Manager.
• Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy of results.
• Document quality control activities, test results and inspection findings clearly.
• Assist in implementing and maintaining quality management systems (HACCP, ISO).
• Participate in internal audits and support external audits by regulators and customers.
• Monitor production environments for hygiene and sanitation adherence.
• Investigate customer complaints and assist root cause analysis.
• Stay updated on food safety regulations and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Proven experience (2+ years) as a Quality Assurance Technician or in a similar quality control role, preferably within the food manufacturing industry.
• A solid understanding of food safety principles, HACCP, GMP, and relevant quality management systems.
• Experience with laboratory testing procedures and equipment calibration.
• Proficiency in data analysis and reporting, with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• A relevant qualification in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field is preferred.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
