Job summary

Coslab in Diep River, Cape Town, is seeking a hands-on Quality Assurance Officer to lead the in-house QA function within a small team. You will ensure ISO 22716 compliance, conduct internal and client audits, and drive corrective actions while collaborating with production and development teams to maintain product quality for cosmetic and FMCG manufacturing.

Qualifications

• B.Sc / M.Sc or a relevant technical or scientific qualification.
• Minimum 4–5 years in quality, hands-on and able to run day-to-day quality function.
• Strong understanding of quality parameters in cosmetics or FMCG manufacturing.
• Experience with 5S and continuous improvement in a small quality team.
• Experience in cosmetics, personal care, or related FMCG manufacturing is essential.
• Ability to collaborate with production, lab development and client-facing teams.

Responsibilities

Coslab is a private label Cosmetic Manufacturer with 35 years in the industry, specialising in Colour Cosmetic ranges for long-standing retail partners.

We're looking for a hands‑on Quality Assurance Officer to run our in‑house Quality function day to day, working closely with our small Quality Control team.

What you'll be doing:

• Run the day‑to‑day quality assurance function, hands‑on across the production floor
• Ensure adherence to ISO 22716 and other certification standards
• Conduct internal and client audits, close out any non‑conformances and do necessary staff training
• Work closely with Production, Manufacturing and Development team to maintain product and process quality in line with regulatory and client requirements

What you’ll need:

• B.Sc / M.Sc or a relevant technical or scientific qualification
• Minimum 4‑5 years in quality, hands‑on and comfortable running the day‑to‑day quality function yourself
• Strong understanding of quality parameters and quality checking within cosmetics or FMCG manufacturing
• 5S and continuous improvement practices, and comfort working closely within a small quality team, including quality controllers and lab‑based staff
• Prior experience in cosmetics, personal care, or related FMCG manufacturing is essential
• Comfortable working closely with production, lab development, and client‑facing teams on formulation and regulatory requirements
• Hands‑on, with genuine day‑to‑day involvement in running the quality function, working closely alongside our small Quality Control team
• Driven by continuous improvement and high standards across the manufacturing process
