Gauteng Provincial Government invites applications for the Operational Manager Specialty (Psychiatry) in the Department of Health. The role provides overall supervision of nursing care in the psychiatry unit, develops clinical protocols, and aligns care with strategic goals.

Requirements include a basic nursing qualification registered with SANC, a post-basic psychiatric nursing qualification, and substantial nursing experience.

Formación

• Basic qualification accredited with SANC under Government Notice R425 (Diploma/ Degree in Nursing) plus post-basic Psychiatric Nursing Science (1 year) accredited with SANC under Government notice R212.
• Minimum 9 years post-registration nursing experience; at least 5 years after the 1-year post-basic Psychiatric Nursing Science.
• Degree or Diploma in Nursing Administration or Health Service Management; computer literacy is an added advantage.

Responsabilidades

• Supervise and control quality patient care in the unit; formulate and ensure availability of clinical care protocols and policies.
• Implement and evaluate patient care programmes aligned with department goals; ensure staffing adequacy and manage absenteeism.
• Responsible for management of nursing duties, budget, and resources; foster multidisciplinary communication; enforce performance development and disciplinary measures.
• Ensure adherence to National Core Standards and the ideal hospital framework.
