Job summary

The Department of Health is seeking an Operational Manager Nursing Specialty (Child Nursing) for the Mother & Child Paediatric Department in Gauteng. The role leads nursing care, governance and operational delivery within a critical paediatric unit.

Applicants must be registered with SANC as a Professional Nurse with a post-basic qualification in Health Services Management, and have extensive paediatric nursing experience.

Qualifications

• Must be registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
• Minimum of nine (9) years nursing experience after registration as a Professional Nurse.
• Post-basic qualification in Health Services Management/Nursing Administration required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and evaluate quality of nursing care within legal and professional standards.
• Manage resources and compile reports to improve patient care quality.
• Work night shifts when allocated and assist in supervisory duties.
• Lead in implementing nursing legislation and hospital governance frameworks.
• Coordinate training and development, and monitor personnel performance.
