Job summary

Marvel Placement Consultants is seeking an experienced Project Manager for mining and process plant environments. You will lead SIB and capital projects, develop execution plans, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams to deliver on time and within budget.

Applicants should have 8–10 years of project management experience, strong MHSA knowledge, and a proven track record in safety compliance, cost control, and stakeholder management.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in engineering, PM, construction management or related field.
• Relevant PM qualification is advantageous.
• 8–10 years of PM experience, mining or process plant environment preferred.
• Experience managing SIB/capital projects and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong planning, scheduling, cost control and execution capabilities.
• MHSA knowledge and mining regulations understanding.
• Proven contractor and subcontractor management experience.
• Financial/budget management experience and cost reporting.
• Proficiency in PM software and planning tools.

Responsibilities

• Manage SIB projects from initiation to completion within scope, budget and schedule.
• Develop and maintain detailed project execution plans and milestones.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams for effective project delivery.
• Monitor progress and implement corrective actions as needed.

Minimum Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or a related field.
• Relevant project management qualification would be advantageous.
• Minimum 8–10 years' project management experience, preferably within a mining, mineral processing or process plant environment.
• Proven experience managing SIB / capital projects.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering and construction projects.
• Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling, cost control and project execution.
• Knowledge of relevant mining legislation, regulations and engineering standards.
• Strong understanding of Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA)
• Proven experience managing contractors and subcontractors.
• Strong financial and budget management experience.
• Proficiency in project management and planning software.

Roles and Responsibilities

Project Management

• Manage SIB projects from project initiation through to successful completion.
• Develop and maintain detailed project execution plans.
• Define project scope, deliverables, milestones and timelines.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and ensure effective project execution.
• Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions where required.
• Ensure projects are delivered according to approved scope, budget, schedule and quality standards.

SIB Project Execution

• Manage Stay-in-Business (SIB) projects aimed at maintaining, improving and extending the operational capability of plant and infrastructure.
• Identify project requirements and coordinate the implementation of approved SIB initiatives.
• Ensure project designs, specifications and technical documentation are completed and approved.
• Coordinate shutdowns, plant modifications, equipment upgrades and infrastructure-related projects where applicable.
• Ensure project handover and close-out requirements are completed.

Planning & Scheduling

• Develop and maintain project schedules and monitor progress against key milestones.
• Coordinate project activities with operations, engineering, maintenance and other relevant departments.
• Identify potential delays, risks and resource constraints and implement mitigation plans.
• Ensure project resources are planned and allocated effectively.

Financial & Cost Management

• Develop and manage project budgets.
• Monitor project expenditure and ensure costs remain within approved budgets.
• Review project financial performance and provide regular cost reports.
• Manage variations, change orders and additional project costs.
• Ensure effective cost control throughout the project lifecycle.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all project activities are conducted in accordance with applicable health and safety legislation.
• Ensure compliance with the MHSA, company policies and site-specific safety requirements.
• Conduct and review project risk assessments and ensure appropriate controls are implemented.
• Ensure contractors and project teams comply with safety requirements.
• Participate in safety inspections, audits and incident investigations where required.

Contractor & Supplier Management

• Manage contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and service providers throughout the project lifecycle.
• Monitor contractor performance, progress, quality and compliance.
• Ensure contractors adhere to approved project plans, specifications and safety requirements.
• Coordinate procurement activities and ensure materials and services are available when required.
• Review and manage contractor claims, variations and deliverables.

Quality Management

• Ensure project work complies with approved engineering designs, specifications and quality standards.
• Monitor construction and installation quality.
• Coordinate inspections, testing and commissioning activities.
• Ensure all project documentation, certificates and handover documentation are completed.

Stakeholder Management

• Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide regular project status reports to management.
• Coordinate with engineering, operations, maintenance, procurement and finance teams.
• Manage stakeholder expectations and address project-related concerns promptly.
• Facilitate project meetings and ensure actions are followed through to completion.

Project Close-Out

• Ensure all project deliverables are completed and signed off.
• Coordinate final inspections, commissioning and handover.
• Ensure all technical and project documentation is finalised.
• Conduct project close-out reviews and capture lessons learned.
• Ensure outstanding defects and project actions are resolved.
