• Experience delivering projects on time and within budget.

About the Role

Our client, a major developer and operator of renewable energy projects, is seeking a highly accomplished Project Manager to oversee the development and construction of significant infrastructure projects in the **Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal**. This role is critical for ensuring the successful execution of large-scale wind, solar, and potentially hydro power initiatives from conception through to commissioning. The ideal candidate will possess a strong track record in managing complex engineering and construction projects, specifically within the **energy sector**. This is a field-based role requiring significant presence at project sites. You will be a key figure in expanding South Africa's renewable energy capacity.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all phases of renewable energy projects, including feasibility, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
• Develop and manage project plans, budgets, and schedules to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion.
• Oversee contractor and vendor selection, negotiation, and management.
• Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout all project activities.
• Manage project risks, issues, and changes effectively, implementing mitigation strategies as needed.
• Liaise with stakeholders, including government authorities, local communities, investors, and internal teams, to ensure project alignment and success.
• Monitor project progress, reporting regularly on key performance indicators (KPIs) to senior management.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant permits, licenses, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil) or a related technical field. A Master's degree or PMP certification is highly desirable.
• A minimum of 12 years of project management experience, with at least 8 years focused on managing large-scale infrastructure projects within the **renewable energy sector**.
• Proven experience in managing budgets exceeding R500 million.
• Demonstrated success in delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
• Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies (solar PV, wind turbines, battery storage).
• Excellent knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., PMI, PRINCE2).
• Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
• Experience with contract management and procurement processes.
• Ability to work effectively in a challenging, fast-paced, and often remote project environment.
