Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and strategic direction for projects from development through construction to handover.

Job description

Our client in the renewable energy sector are seeking the skills of a Project Manager to be based in Gauteng. Travel will be involved.

The Project Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of project delivery across projects in Eastern Cape and surrounding areas. The role is to work with a Project team that ensures seamless coordination with clients, contractors, internal teams, and leadership.

Main job function

Key Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

• Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for all projects from development through construction to handover.
• Establish and maintain robust project governance, reporting, and decision-making frameworks.
• Serve as the primary interface with clients, teams, department heads, and key stakeholders.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with community stakeholders.
• Oversee project planning, scheduling, and execution across all phases.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, including technical, commercial, safety, and schedule risks.
• Ensure strong commercial understanding of the project and contract requirements.
• Ensure all contractual obligations are understood, managed and aligned with the project strategy.
• Oversee cost control, budget adherence, and commercial risk mitigation.
• Lead the project team to safely deliver a project within schedule and budget.
• Ensure successful project execution in line with business, operational, and contractual commitments.
• Contribute actively to building and strengthening the project's safety culture.
• Lead and manage the team the Projects team to ensure alignment and delivery on project goals.
• Mentor and develop team members, using local and past project knowledge to bring lessons learned and improve project performance.
• Build strong customer relationships to ensure smooth project execution.
• Manage and resolve project issues or roadblocks promptly.
• Drive reporting and internal visibility for all projects to create insight led clarity across the business

Qualifications

• Qualification in Project Management or equivalent is advantageous

Criteria

• Minimum 5 years' experience as a Project Manager and leading teams
• Minimum 5 years' experience on managing large projects with a strong focus on construction or energy projects
• Renewable energy sector and Southern Africa experience is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of people management, project management methodologies, and commercial management.
• Demonstrated courage to challenge, drive continuous improvement and maintain high performance standards.
• Strong leadership and team management capability.
• Excellent commercial and contract management understanding.
• Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Operational and strategic decision-making ability.
• High level of accountability, ownership, and execution discipline.
