About the Role

Our client, a renowned property developer with a significant presence in KwaZulu-Natal, is seeking a diligent and experienced Project Manager to oversee diverse construction and development projects. This full-time position is based in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal . The successful candidate will manage projects from the initial planning and design phases through to construction, completion, and final handover. Responsibilities include ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and meet stringent quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in construction project management, excellent leadership qualities, and a strong understanding of building regulations and practices within KwaZulu-Natal . This role is essential for driving the successful execution of our client's development pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute detailed project plans, encompassing scope definition, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation for construction projects.
• Lead and manage project teams, including site supervisors, contractors, architects, and engineers.
• Oversee all phases of the construction process, ensuring adherence to design specifications and building codes.
• Manage procurement activities, including tender processes, contractor selection, and contract management.
• Monitor project progress, identify potential risks and issues, and implement timely corrective actions.
• Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations on all project sites.
• Maintain effective communication channels with stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and local authorities.
• Manage project finances, track costs, and ensure profitability targets are met.
• Conduct regular site inspections and progress meetings to ensure quality and compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and project management software (e.g., MS Project, AutoCAD).
• Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Experience with contract administration, tender evaluation, and site management.

• Professional registration (e.g., Pr. Eng, Pr. CM) is highly desirable.
