Job summary

Hitachi Energy in South Africa seeks a seasoned Project Manager to drive the successful execution of High Voltage orders booked in the region. You will oversee from order entry through project commissioning, aligning with safety, quality, and contractual requirements.

You will monitor KPIs, manage frame contracts with utilities, lead cross-functional teams, and build strong customer relationships while delivering on time, on budget, and to specification.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent with strong technical background.
• Experience in High Voltage industry with project management in South Africa.
• Project execution in EPC context is advantageous.
• Strong leadership and ability to influence stakeholders in project interests.
• Ability to deliver under time, cost, and quality constraints.
• SAP or ERP platform knowledge is advantageous.
• Detail-oriented with focus on quality in deliverables.
• Able to adapt to changing priorities with cross-functional and cross-cultural teams.
• Analytical mindset with risk identification and mitigation.
• Excellent spoken and written English skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead successful execution of High Voltage orders booked in South Africa.
• Monitor and achieve KPIs including Revenue, Cash Flow, Inventory, On-time Delivery, Customer Satisfaction.
• Manage Frame Contract with utilities customers and ensure on-time completion of projects.
• Ensure execution activities comply with Hitachi Energy policies, contracts, quality standards, HSE requirements, and schedule commitments.
• Build strong relationships with customers to ensure satisfaction through timely delivery.
• Conduct project reviews with factory management and project managers to ensure contract fulfilment.
• Identify risks, negotiate, and resolve escalated issues raised by customers.
• Ensure projects follow internal standards and are closed per contracts.
• Coordinate customer requests related to execution or additional requests leading to potential sales.
• Ensure compliance with external and internal regulations and guidelines.

The opportunity

To ensure customer satisfaction through effective project management and delivering results from order entry to project commissioning that ensure repeatable customer business.

How you’ll make an impact

• Leading the successful execution of High Voltage Orders booked in South Africa.
• Monitor and achieve importance KPIs including Revenue, Cash Flow, Inventory, On-time Delivery, Customer Satisfaction, etc.
• Managing Frame Contract with utilities Customer and establish effective commination to ensure on time completion of Projects
• Ensure that all order execution related activities are performed in accordance with Hitachi Energy policy, contractual agreements, quality standards, health, safety and environment requirements, financial targets as well as schedule commitments.
• Build up strong relations with customers and manage customer satisfaction by on time execution of projects.
• Project reviews with factory management and factory Project Managers to ensure contract fulfilment.
• Take an active role in identifying risks, negotiating and resolving escalated issues especially those raised by the customer.
• To ensure that the portfolio of projects follows good methodology and execution practices in accordance with internal standard procedures, and that projects are closed as per contracts entered with customers.
• Lead the coordination of any customer request whether they are related to execution or additional requests to projects which lead for additional sales.
• Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, or equivalent with strong technical background
• Experience in High Voltage Industry with exposure to Project Management in South Africa.
• Project Executed in under EPC added advantage
• Possess strong leadership skills and ability to lead the team and convince stakeholders in the interest of the project.
• Ability to work under pressure to deliver the projects with time, cost, and quality.
• Experience of SAP or another ERP platform knowledge is an advantage.
• Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and quality in project deliverables.
• Capability to develop work practices and to take lessons learned and implement them into the processes.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work under tight deadlines and excellent collaboration and work with cross functional and cross-cultural team.
• Analytical and problem-solving mindset, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks and challenges.
• Proficiency in both spoken & written and English is required.
