Job summary

Facet Engineering (Pty) Ltd in Roodepoort is seeking a skilled Project Draughtsman to join our design team. You will manage projects from brief through planning, design, fabrication, installation and commissioning, and develop concept layouts, detailed designs and shop drawings.

The role requires a Diploma or certificate in Draughting and strong CAD proficiency (AutoCAD, Inventor). Experience in agri-food or conveyors is advantageous; collaboration with engineers and suppliers is essential.

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Project Draughtsman to join our dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage Project from initial client brief through planning, design, fabrication, installation, and final commissioning.
• Develop concept layouts, detailed designs, fabrication drawings, shop detailing, and complete project documentation in collaboration with project engineers.
• Prepare bills of materials, source and procure materials and buyout items, and coordinate suppliers to meet project schedules.
• Monitor project progress throughout fabrication and installation, provide technical support, oversee site activities, and ensure successful project completion on time and within budget.
• Develop accurate 3D Models and 2D technical drawings using Inventor and AutoCAD.
• Collaborate with engineers and project managers to interpret design specifications and translate them into detailed drawings.
• Assist in the development of prototypes and manufacturing processes.
• Maintain an up-to-date understanding of engineering technologies and industry trends.
• Assist in preparing documentation and technical reports for projects.

Qualifications and Skills

• Diploma or certificate in Draughting or a related field.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in the agri-food sector or conveyor systems would be advantageous.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
• Minimal 8 years working experience in similar position.
