Job summary

Network Finance is seeking a skilled Conveyor Systems Design Draughtsman to join the engineering team in Gauteng. You will produce accurate 2D and 3D drawings for conveyor systems and bulk handling equipment, and develop fabrication, assembly and manufacturing drawings for production teams.

The role requires a Diploma/Certificate in Mechanical Draughting or Design and 3–5 years’ relevant experience, with proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D CAD tools.

Qualifications

• Diploma, Certificate or relevant qualification in Mechanical Draughting / Mechanical Engineering Design.
• 3–5 years' relevant experience in mechanical design draughting.
• Proven experience with conveyor systems or bulk material handling equipment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical fabrication and manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or relevant 3D CAD software.
• Ability to produce detailed fabrication and manufacturing drawings.
• Good understanding of mechanical engineering principles, dimensions and tolerances.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed 2D and 3D mechanical drawings for conveyor systems and bulk material handling equipment.
• Develop general arrangement, fabrication, assembly and manufacturing drawings.
• Prepare detailed drawings for conveyor structures, frames, chutes, platforms, guards, pulleys and associated components.
• Interpret engineering calculations, specifications and design concepts and translate them into production-ready drawings.
• Ensure drawings comply with relevant engineering standards, company procedures and client specifications.
• Perform design modifications, revisions and drawing updates as required.
• Develop accurate BOMs and material schedules.
• Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers, designers, project teams and manufacturing personnel.
• Liaise with fabrication and workshop teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.
• Conduct drawing checks and identify potential clashes, dimensional issues or fabrication constraints.
• Maintain drawing, revision and document control throughout projects.
• Assist with site measurements, inspections and design updates where required.
• Support the engineering team with technical documentation and project deliverables.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Conveyor Systems Design Draughtsman to join the engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate and detailed mechanical drawings for conveyor systems and associated bulk material handling equipment.

This role is ideal for a technically strong draughtsperson who understands conveyor design, mechanical equipment, fabrication and mining-related engineering and can translate engineering concepts into high-quality manufacturing and fabrication drawings.

Key Responsibilities

Advantageous Experience

• Mining or minerals processing industry experience.

• Knowledge of bulk material handling equipment and associated mechanical components.
• Experience producing fabrication drawings for structural steelwork.
• Understanding of conveyor standards and relevant engineering codes.
• Site installation, commissioning or measurement experience.
