Design Engineer / Draughtsman

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Design Engineer / Draughtsman to support project delivery through the creation of precise, high-quality technical drawings. This role plays a critical part in ensuring designs are practical, buildable, and aligned with fabrication and installation requirements.

Location: Coega, Port Elizabeth/Gqeberha

Job Type: Permanent, On-site

Minimum Requirements

• Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Inventor (essential)
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a fabrication, piping, or structural design environment
• Proven experience producing detailed fabrication and installation drawings
• Strong working knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes
• Relevant qualification in Drafting, Mechanical Engineering, or Design
• Valid Code 08 driver’s license

Key Responsibilities

• Produce accurate 2D and 3D drawings for fabrication, installation, and client approval using Autodesk Inventor
• Interpret technical specifications, sketches, and engineering inputs into practical, buildable designs
• Prepare general arrangement, fabrication, and installation drawings
• Compile accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and assist with material take-offs
• Ensure all drawings meet company standards and industry regulations
• Collaborate with Project Managers and Workshop Supervisors to optimize designs and reduce rework
• Maintain and improve drawing libraries, templates, and standard parts
• Revise and update drawings throughout project lifecycles with a high level of accuracy
• Submit drawings for internal review and client approval within required timelines
