Placements24 in Bloemfontein is seeking an experienced Project Chemical Engineer to lead and manage chemical engineering projects for industrial clients. This on-site contract role requires strong project management, process design expertise, and the ability to oversee projects from concept through commissioning.

You will interact with clients, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, supervise P&IDs and equipment specs, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 8+ years in project engineering/PM in chemical, petrochemical, or related industries.
• Proven ability to deliver complex engineering projects.
• Pr.Eng registration with ECSA desirable.
• Willingness to travel to project sites.

Responsabilités

About the Role

Our client, a prominent engineering consulting firm, is seeking an experienced Project Chemical Engineer to lead and manage chemical engineering projects for various industrial clients. This is an on-site, contract position based in Bloemfontein , requiring strong project management skills and a comprehensive understanding of chemical process design and implementation. You will be responsible for overseeing projects from initial concept through to commissioning, ensuring adherence to scope, budget, and timeline. This role involves significant client interaction, site visits, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with a proven ability to deliver complex projects successfully and a commitment to maintaining high standards of engineering excellence. You will play a key role in executing projects that contribute to our client's reputation for delivering innovative and reliable engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of chemical engineering projects, from feasibility studies to final handover.
• Develop project scopes, detailed designs, and execution plans in collaboration with clients and internal teams.
• Oversee the preparation of P&IDs, equipment specifications, and construction documentation.
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and site personnel to ensure smooth project execution.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to keep projects on track.
• Ensure all projects comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage project budgets, track expenditures, and prepare financial reports.
• Conduct site inspections and provide technical oversight during construction and commissioning phases.
• Facilitate project meetings, including progress reviews and technical discussions with clients.
• Prepare project close-out documentation and conduct post-project reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in project engineering or project management within the chemical, petrochemical, or related process industries.
• Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering complex engineering projects.
• Strong understanding of chemical process design, equipment selection, and instrumentation.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and basic CAD tools.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work effectively on-site and manage client relationships.
• Strong understanding of contract management and cost control principles.
• Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) registration with ECSA is highly desirable.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
