Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Professional Van Driver to join our logistics team in Midrand, Gauteng. You will be responsible for safe, timely local deliveries, route planning, and maintaining vehicle readiness while delivering excellent customer service.

The ideal candidate holds a Code 10 with PrDP and has at least 3 years of local driving experience. You must be reliable, punctual, and capable of working independently in a dynamic environment with a modern fleet.

Qualifications

• Valid Code 10 (C1) driver’s license with a PrDP.
• Minimum 3 years of professional driving experience, preferably local delivery or logistics.
• Proven safe driving record with no major traffic violations.
• Excellent knowledge of the Midrand, Gauteng area and surrounding routes.
• Physical ability to lift and carry packages of varying weights.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for customer interaction.
• Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety checks.
• Experience with electronic proof of delivery (ePOD) systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a light commercial vehicle (van) for local deliveries and collections.
• Plan and execute daily delivery routes efficiently to meet scheduled timelines.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and report any defects.
• Load and unload goods accurately and securely, ensuring no damage occurs.
• Provide excellent customer service during delivery and collection interactions.
• Maintain accurate delivery logs, records, and reconcile any discrepancies.
• Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
• Report any delays, accidents, or incidents immediately to the operations manager.
• Maintain a clean and organized vehicle interior.
• Assist with inventory checks as required.
