Job summary

TAC Recruitment (Pty) ltd is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor for a meat processing environment in Gauteng, South Africa. The role focuses on training and managing production staff, ensuring products meet specifications and standards, and optimising production processes.

You will oversee stock control, hygiene, labeling accuracy, and legal compliance while driving cost-effective use of resources and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 is required.
• Master Meat Cutting Certificate is preferred.
• 5–10 years of operational meat-cutting experience in beef and lamb is required.
• 3–5 years of supervisory experience in a meat production environment is required.

Responsibilities

• Train and manage production staff across the retail plant and manufacturing plant, ensuring products meet specifications.
• Oversee production processes and develop, review and implement efficient procedures to optimise production.
• Ensure products are delivered according to established standards and order fulfilment requirements.
• Manage stock control and ensure stock rotation.
• Ensure products meet customer requirements, particularly regarding appearance, packaging and labelling.
• Maintain hygiene standards throughout all production processes and procedures.
• Ensure correct labelling selection criteria and quality standards are applied, including neatness and sequencing.
• Ensure procedures comply with applicable legal and hygiene requirements.
• Report quality and maintenance non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
• Optimise the cost-effective utilisation of equipment, assets and human resources.
• Supervise production line planning to ensure service levels are achieved.
• Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and skills relevant to production efficiency and improvement.
• Conduct workforce planning to ensure adequate staffing levels to meet operational objectives.
• Implement and manage people development initiatives including performance management, succession planning and talent management.
• Ensure disciplinary procedures are applied appropriately.

Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ)

• Ensure acceptable personal hygiene standards are maintained by all staff.
• Ensure the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain product and process hygiene standards at all times.
• Ensure all duties are performed in accordance with applicable occupational health and safety guidelines and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications
