Job summary

Exceed HR and Recruitment is seeking a Production Manager for Wolseley, Western Cape to oversee daily manufacturing, packaging and dispatch operations while optimising labour, equipment and resources.

The ideal candidate will hold a Degree in Production Management, Engineering (BTech) or Food Technology, with knowledge of World Class Manufacturing, GMP and food safety regulations, plus strong leadership and a proven track record in continuous improvement within the food industry.

Qualifications

• Degree in Production Management is preferred
• Knowledge of World Class Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
• Understanding of employment, OH&S legislation and regulations
• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
• Knowledge of GMP and food safety regulations
• Understanding of asset care, workflow management and operational excellence
• Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities

Responsibilities

• Plan, allocate and optimise labour, equipment and other production resources.
• Oversee daily production, packaging and dispatch operations.
• Manage staffing across shifts and monitor labour efficiency, absenteeism and turnover.
• Develop and improve employee skills through coaching, mentoring and training.
• Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
• Monitor production efficiency, capacity, inventory accuracy and overall equipment effectiveness.
• Implement asset care and TPM practices.
• Monitor production costs, overtime, variances and cost-saving opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, health and safety standards and relevant legislation.
• Maintain required BRC, GFCO, Halal and Kosher certifications.
• Apply root cause analysis and statistical methods to resolve production issues.
• Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, teamwork and continuous improvement.
