Job summary

32 Degrees South Fruit (Pty) Ltd is seeking a seasoned Packhouse Manager to oversee daily packing, sorting and dispatch operations in our Koue Bokkeveld facility. You will ensure cold-chain integrity through refrigeration and CA storage, while managing inventory and packaging materials.

Leading packhouse and warehouse staff, you will drive workforce planning, productivity, training and discipline, and ensure adherence to quality, food safety and HACCP/BRCGS standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ management experience in a fruit packhouse, CA storage facility or similar environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily packing, sorting, handling and dispatch of fruit in accordance with production, quality and market requirements.
• Oversee refrigeration, cold rooms and CA storage to ensure an optimal cold chain and product quality.
• Control fruit, packaging material and packhouse supplies inventory, including accurate stock records and product rotation.
• Lead packhouse and warehouse staff, including workforce planning, productivity, training and discipline.
• Ensure compliance with quality, food safety, hygiene and safety standards (BRCGS & HACCP).
• Monitor productivity, losses, costs and operational efficiency, and reporting to the Board of Directors.

Essential qualifications, skills, and experience:

• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant management experience in a fruit packhouse, CA storage facility or similar environment;
• Strong people, inventory and operational management skills, with knowledge of all applicable legislation;
• Knowledge of optical sorting;
• Knowledge of fruit handling, packing and cold-chain management (including CA storage);
• Ability to work under pressure and manage longer/irregular working hours during the season.
