Job summary

OutsideCapital in South Africa is seeking an experienced Product Owner for Financial Systems to bridge finance operations, business strategy, and technology delivery. Qualifications

• Solid foundation in finance processes, business system design, and continuous optimization.
• Proven hands-on experience producing detailed software documentation—including Agile user stories with acceptance criteria and BRD/FRD.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Practical ability to handle front-end and back-end application configuration (non-developer).
• Proficiency with Google Workspace and MS Office suite (including MS Project).

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

Must-Haves (Essential for Consideration)

• Systems & Process Acumen: Solid foundation in finance processes, business system design, and continuous optimization.
• Agile & Delivery Experience: Proven hands-on experience producing detailed software documentation—including Agile user stories with acceptance criteria and Waterfall Business/Functional Requirements Documents (BRD/FRD).
• Technical Communication: Ability to communicate technical concepts, trade-offs, and solutions clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• System Configuration: Practical ability to handle front-end and back-end application configuration (non-developer configuration).
• Tools: Proficiency with Google Workspace and MS Office suite (including MS Project).

Nice-to-Haves (Beneficial Advantages)

• Certifications: Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO), or related Agile certifications.
• Leadership Experience: 5+ years leading or mentoring teams of Business and Systems Analysts.
• Industry Experience: Domain experience in large-scale retail finance environments.
• Enterprise Tools: Hands-on experience with enterprise ERPs (SAP or Oracle Finance), financial reporting solutions, and Jira.
