Placements24 is seeking a Product Development Engineer (Mechanical) to lead the design and prototyping of next-generation products at our Pretoria R&D center. You will drive from concept to production, applying advanced CAD tools and rigorous testing to ensure highest performance and manufacturability.

The role emphasizes collaboration across design, materials, and manufacturing teams, with a focus on thermodynamics, mechatronics, and rapid prototyping to deliver innovative solutions in a hybrid

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Minimum 6 years hands-on experience in product development and mechanical design.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or ANSYS.
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, materials science, and mechatronics.
• Experience with rapid prototyping and experimental design.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development of new products from initial concept through to mass production.
• Conduct rigorous performance testing, validation, and failure analysis on prototypes and production units.
• Develop detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and technical specifications using CAD software.
• Collaborate with industrial designers, materials engineers, and manufacturing teams to optimize product design for aesthetics, functionality, and manufacturability.
• Research and evaluate new technologies and materials to enhance product performance and features.
• Create and manage prototypes for testing and customer feedback in the Gauteng region.
