Job summary

Pronel Personnel seeks a proactive Buyer – Local & Import to join our client’s team in Pietermaritzburg. You will manage sourcing, supplier coordination and import administration to ensure on-time delivery of materials for production.

The role emphasizes persistent follow-ups, strong supplier relationships and multitasking in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in MS Excel and familiarity with Syspro are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 / Matric required.
• Technical buying or procurement experience preferred in manufacturing/engineering.
• Demonstrable experience in order expediting, supplier follow-ups and delivery schedule management.

Responsibilities

• Source suppliers, obtain quotations, compare pricing and place purchase orders.
• Expedite outstanding orders by actively following up with suppliers.
• Monitor delivery schedules and address potential delays to prevent production disruptions.
• Coordinate delivery of materials with production and kitting schedules.
• Arrange and track import shipments and liaise on documentation with shipping agents.
• Maintain purchasing records and ensure adherence to procedures.
