Job summary

Be Different Recruitment is seeking a procurement professional in Johannesburg to support sourcing, import/export coordination, and supplier management for a manufacturing client.

You will evaluate quotations, place purchase orders, monitor stock, coordinate shipments, and maintain accurate records while ensuring compliance with trade regulations.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of experience, a relevant degree, strong Excel skills, and proven negotiation abilities to achieve cost savings.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's in SCM, Procurement & Logistics, or related field.
• 1-3 years in procurement, purchasing, logistics, import/export, or supply chain ops.
• Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of import/export regulations and shipping documentation.
• ERP proficiency: SAP, Oracle, Sage, MS Dynamics.
• Advanced Excel and reporting skills.
• Strong negotiation and supplier management abilities.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and documentation accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Assist in sourcing raw materials and services for production.
• Obtain supplier quotations, negotiate pricing, and issue purchase orders.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishments.
• Support supplier selection, qualification, and performance reviews.
• Maintain procurement records and supplier databases.
• Follow up with suppliers on order status, delivery schedules and quality issues.
• Coordinate import/export shipments with freight forwarders and brokers.
• Prepare shipping documentation: invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, origin certificates.
• Ensure compliance with customs regulations and trade laws.
• Track shipments and resolve delays or clearance issues.
• Assist in landed costs, duties, taxes, and freight calculations.
• Maintain supplier relationships and manage disputes.
• Collaborate with production planning to forecast material needs.
• Monitor stock levels and identify shortages.
• Support inventory optimization and cycle counts.
• Generate procurement and supplier performance reports.
