Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Process Safety Engineer to join the Upington team. The role focuses on implementing and maintaining robust safety systems to prevent hazardous incidents in oil and gas operations, with emphasis on hazard identification and risk assessments.

You will lead PHAs, develop safety management procedures, and ensure compliance with safety regulations while training staff and driving continuous safety improvements across Northern Cape operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of process safety engineering experience in oil and gas or chemical industry.
• Knowledge of PHAs, risk assessment techniques, and safety regulations.
• Familiarity with SIS and LOPA.

Responsibilities

• Lead PHAs such as HAZOP and LOPA studies.
• Develop and implement safety management systems and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with process safety regulations and industry best practices.

Requirements

• Familiarity with safety instrumented systems (SIS) and layers of protection analysis (LOPA).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration in Upington.
