Placements24 is seeking a Process Development Chemical Engineer to join our R&D team in Rustenburg, North West. You will conceptualize, design, and pilot novel chemical processes with a focus on scalability and economic viability, translating lab discoveries into robust manufacturing methods.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 3-5 years of experience in process development, scale-up, or pilot plant operations.
• Proficiency in Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or Chemcad.
• Hands-on experience with laboratory and pilot plant equipment.
• Strong understanding of chemical engineering principles, including reaction engineering and separations.
• Experience with data analysis and statistical methods.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of new chemical processes from bench scale to pilot scale.
• Conduct detailed process design, including P&IDs, mass and energy balances, and equipment sizing.
• Perform rigorous process simulations and modeling to predict performance and optimize parameters.
• Design and execute experimental plans for pilot plant trials, analyzing results to validate process viability.
• Identify and evaluate new technologies and equipment for process enhancement.
• Collaborate closely with R&D scientists and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless technology transfer.
• Develop comprehensive operating procedures and safety guidelines for new processes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges encountered during process development.
• Evaluate the economic feasibility and environmental impact of proposed processes.
• Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for internal stakeholders.
