Placements24 is seeking a Principal Solar Farm Project Manager to lead large-scale solar infrastructure projects in George, Western Cape. You will drive end-to-end delivery from planning and site acquisition through construction, commissioning, and handover.

The role demands executive leadership, deep solar industry knowledge, and proven success delivering utility-scale projects on time and within budget. Expect travel and strategic stakeholder engagement as part of your responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• 10-15 years of experience in project management, with at least 7 years focused on utility-scale solar power projects.
• Proven track record delivering projects exceeding 100MW in capacity.
• Knowledge of solar technology, project finance, EPC/PPA contracts, and regulatory frameworks.
• Ability to manage complex stakeholder environments including government agencies, investors, and communities.
• PMP or equivalent certification is strongly preferred.
• Experience with MS Project, Primavera P6 or similar software.
• Strong financial modeling and risk assessment for renewables.
• Willingness to travel extensively within the region and potentially internationally.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct rigorous site assessments, feasibility studies, and due diligence processes for new project opportunities.


• Implement robust risk management strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate potential project challenges.


• Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and quality standards throughout all project phases.


• Monitor project progress, financial performance, and key performance indicators (KPIs), providing regular reports to senior management.


• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within project management processes and methodologies.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.


• A minimum of 10-15 years of experience in project management, with at least 7 years specifically focused on utility-scale solar power projects.


• Demonstrated success in managing projects exceeding 100MW in capacity.


• In-depth knowledge of solar technology, project finance, contract negotiation (EPC, PPA), and regulatory frameworks.


• Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder environments, including government agencies, investors, and community groups.


• Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.


• PMP or equivalent project management certification is strongly preferred.


• Experience with project management software such as MS Project, Primavera P6, or similar.


• Strong understanding of financial modeling and risk assessment for renewable energy projects.


• Ability to travel extensively within the region and potentially internationally.
